Service Description

A unique class focused on building strength through external resistance using dumbbells and ankle weights. Yoga postures require strength and stability (sthira), building strength in the larger muscles of the body will greatly improve your Yoga asana (posture) practice. This class will focus on building strength in the shoulders, arms, upper-back, gluteal muscles (buttocks) and legs. Class will end with 15 minutes of stretching. Be prepared with dumbbells, ankle weights, weight training bench or step-aerobic bench. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Step aerobic bench, or flat workout bench Two ankle weights (2.5-10 lbs each) Two light weight dumbbells (example: 2-5 lbs each) Two medium weight dumbells (example: 5-10 lbs each) Two heavy weight dumbells (example: 15-20 lbs each) Note: The exact weight of your dumbbells will depend on your current strength. You will want a variety of weights to choose from. I have included links for purchasing equipment needed in the Strength Training Page under 'Classes' in the main menu.
