“The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from stillness.”
~ Sakyong Mipham
Immerse yourself in the springtime beauty of the Inland Pacific Northwest for a weekend of Yoga, meditation and friendship. You will be surrounded with streams, vibrant green pastures, abundant wildflowers and beautiful forests.
Each day you will be led through slow, carefully planned Yoga sequences, with the goal of easing tightness in the hips, strengthening core muscles, improving postural alignment and slowing down the breath. Friday and Saturday's will begin with a three-hour morning workshop that will include discussion, meditation and Yoga. Workshop content is designed to help you recognize and overcome common obstacles encountered during meditation and Yoga practices. All levels of practice will be considered in planning. Props such as blocks, chairs, blankets and straps will be available for use and will incorporated in each practice session. In addition to the two morning workshops, we will have 75-90 minute Yoga classes on the first and last day of the retreat. Evenings will be filled with candlelit, guided meditations and/or restorative Yoga sessions.
Receive instruction and guidance on beginning, or renewing, your meditation practice. Learn the types and styles of meditation, stages of a meditation practice, and breathing exercises to calm anxiety, focus the mind and manage stress. Practical tips for success in meditation will be offered throughout the weekend. Guided meditations will be practiced at the beginning of the retreat. Unguided, silent meditation sessions, of various lengths, will be held on the second, third and fourth days. The length of time in silent meditation will increase slightly throughout the weekend, culminating in a longer, silent meditation on the final retreat morning.
“The goal of meditation isn’t to control your thoughts, it’s to stop letting them control you.”
This magnificent property is on a 150 acre ranch located 15 minutes east of Coeur d' Alene in Northern Idaho. The 4000 sf house is a spacious, comfortable home built with love by the owners. The heart of the home is the original 1908 homestead cabin, whose original deed was signed by President Theodore Roosevelt.
The unique setting of this home is at the confluence of two streams and surrounded by pristine natural beauty to stir your heart. Like a painting come to life with romantic rock bridges, quaint stone steps and walls, lush pastures, fruit trees, flowers and two jade-green ponds filled with trout that guests are encouraged to feed with food provided. This enchanting home is surrounded on three sides by 2.5 million acres of U.S. Forest land extending into Montana and Canada. The property has been maintained as a wildlife preserve with deer, elk, moose, bear, wolves, bald eagles and wild turkeys visiting the ranch. There are no visible neighbors.
Travel expenses are not included in registration costs.
The nearest major airport is in Spokane, Washington. It is a 45 minute drive to Coeur d' Alene from the Spokane airport.
