The Postures of Yoga Are Preparation for So Much More
This workshop is for any student of Yoga and meditation who would like to learn more about the
teachings recorded in the venerable and thought provoking writings in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the timeless Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. Learn how the knowledge found in these texts applies to our contemporary practices of Yoga, empowers us to realize our potential, and provides a path to transcend suffering in life.
Asana and Meditation practice with Tish included prior to each session: 7:45-8:30 AM PST
PART 1: Saturday, April 1 8:30-10:30 AM PST
Practices for the Subtle and the Gross Body: Why do we feel so fresh and vibrant after a Yoga asana (posture) practice? On the first day of this two-part series we will discover how to peel back the layers of the subtle body within ourselves, as outlined in the philosophy of Yoga, and how to perceive the changes that we experience through the practices of kosha, klesha, prana and asana.
PART II: Sunday, April 2 8:30-10:30 AM PST
The True Aim of Yoga: On the second day, we will discuss the methods and paths of Yoga (Karma Yoga, Bhakti yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga) and how each can help one to realize the true aim of Yoga. The four chapters of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras offer the Yoga practitioner a broader perspective, reminding one that a practice of Yoga is so much more than the postures and will illuminate a path leading to liberation from suffering in life.
You will need a copy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras (any translation). With your registration you will receive a Zoom link for the live workshops, 30-day access to a recording of the live sessions, Power-Point presentation slides and a digital study guide with references. Optional asana practice led by Tish before each workshop.
